This morning I want to Thank God because we're talking about offences and as Christ was being exalted we were exalted together with him.
One of the things we are looking at today is a thing which affects most Christians regardless of what level you're at!
Offences will always come because we're in a world surrounded by offences.
You need the grace to make it in the midst of offences.
Offences are there because we're created differently and we perceive things differently.
Some of the things that other people like are likely to offend you.
When we talk about offences we're not talking about sins because you can be offended by what someone perceives as good. For example the way a person chews.
We are also different the way we're brought up and coming together from different family backgrounds you can be offended by the way they were brought up!
Some things you think are instant are taken likely eg time/punctuality. When you start working with people who don't value time you're bound to be offended.
We are different!
The second reason is the sinful nature of man..the fall of Adam brought the sinful nature in a human..we live in a world full of hatred, greed, lust, jealousy. We get offended when exposed to the sinful nature of man.
As long as we're in this body we will continue fighting against sin and unless you fight it, it will continue. Sin wants to always manifest in the nature of man.
Offences can come with anyone! You can be offended by your spouse, children, leaders in church etc.
It's a world full of offences! You can't pray and fast away offences. JESUS said it's impossible that offences will not come and this is coming from our master whom is highly exalted!
We have to know how to deal with offences!
The best way is to live in a world full of offences and yet desist from succumbing to offences.
PRODUCTS OF TAKING OFFENCES
1. Offences inflame hatred between brethren.
Offences in themselves are not hatred but they can inflame hatred..
Genesis 27: 41
We have two twin brothers there Esau and Jacob!
Esau was offended because Jacob had taken his blessing the blessing he thought was his as his right as first born.
The word says Esau hated Jacob because of the issue!
When one is offended and you entertain the thought you end up hating the person to a level of murder.
You can end up in hatred because of entertaining offences and you're diverted.
